The entire system is contained in a chamber held at a temperature just under the melting level of the plastic. No postprocessing is required after the half is removed from the chamber. One-piece cylindrical or tapered mandrels, often of easy form, are pulled out of the half with mandrel extraction equipment. Some mandrels, notably in more advanced parts, high precision machining are made of soluble materials and additionally be} dissolved and washed out of the half.
